The PBS is an acronym of Public Broadcasting Service as stated above. It is an American public broadcaster and television program distributor. The platform was established on November 3, 1969, and began operation on October 5, 1970.  This platform is not a network but it’s a program distributor of content and related services to its member stations. The broadcasting service is a non-profit organization and a famous distinguished provider of educational television programming to public television stations in the United States. Also, the platform received funds from the combination of member station dues, and donations from both private foundations and individual citizens. The platform has more than 300 member television stations, of which many are owned by educational institutions, non-profit groups both independent or affiliates with a specific local public school district or collegiate educational institution, or entities that are owned by or related to state government.

The platform member’s station as of March 2015 was about 354 membership in the 50 states. Public Broadcasting Service is a broadcaster that is, licensing broadcasting partners both commercial and non-commercial in all the United States to own multiple stations broadcasting the main Public Broadcaster Service member. PBS has estimated national reach of about 93.74% of all households in the United States. Most PBS member station has produced at least some nationally distributed programs.

However, each member is charged with the responsibility of programming local content including news, interviews, cultural, and public affairs programs for their individual markets or state that supplement content made available by Public Broadcasting Service and other public television distributors. Also, Public Broadcasting Service introduces the PBS kid, a children’s program into their schedule.
