- Tao the Messenger icon at the top of the navigation bar
- Key in your first name and last name on the Messenger profile on the page
- Then, click on the “Next” icon
How To Chat with Your Contact in Yahoo Mail
when you are through enabling your chat feature, follow the steps below to exchange instant messages with any of your contacts using Yahoo instant messenger. Also, you cannot access Chat if you are using Yahoo Mail Basic.
- Sign in to chat. Offline will appear next to “me” under “Messenger” in your Yahoo Mail at the left sidebar. Or if an icon in bold appears next to “Messenger” click offline or the icon that is bold. In case, a Grey bolt shows next to “Online contacts” in your Yahoo Mail at the left side of the navigation bar. Click on it and turn it yellow. Select “Available”, “Busy” or “invisible” on the list. You can also choose “ custom Status” to sign in with your account. You can also sign in with your account that is set to a custom state.
- Click the “Messenger “ icon at the top of the Yahoo Mail navigation bar. Alternatively, click on “I” ( meaning instant messenger) and click the “compose icon” button.
- Type the recipients Yahoo Messenger ID or email address under the “To” button and press the “Enter” key.
- On the “Add a message” button Begin to type your message.
- Then, click the “Enter” key to send the message.
- You can also, start a new line without the long process of sending. Just click on Ault-Enter.
